2008 Season - Week 7
The 2008 Player Hall of Fame Inductees
We now have elected 31 players into the Hall of Fame following last weeks election of the Class of 2008. Congratulations to Jamal Lewis who scored 53 points with 3 first place votes, Fred Taylor 49 points (1 first place), Hines Ward (44 points (2 first place) and Bubba Franks 42 points (including 2 first place votes from the Bowden Bothers – they like his nickname!). Commiserations to Joey Galloway who missed out by 1 point after scoring 41 points and also receiving 2 first place votes. To all who voted, a big thank you but your jobs not over, it’s time to vote again. The Hall of Fame floorplan is attached.
Owners Hall of Fame
Last year Chief was voted in to join inaugural member Cheryl, now someone else will join them. The rules are simple - each year one owner (past or present) will be honoured by the current owners. All you have to do is email me the name of the owner you wish to place in the Hall of Fame, Owners Wing. Email me your vote by November 16th. Please note there is no room for narcissism in the BUMS - YOU MAY NOT VOTE FOR YOURSELF. Nominations are listed alphabetically on the attached sheet with the 16 current owners joined by the 4 former owners Andrew Gulliford, Paul Privitera Phil Long & Steve Talbot. Let the campaigning begin, why do YOU deserve to be in?
Trading Day Move
It wasn’t just the BUMS who were trading players as the NFL Trade Deadline passed with one key trade that could effect BUMS thinking and two trades that didn’t. In Kansas City Ron’s new TE, Tony Gonzalez, told management he would be open to a trade to help the Chiefs get draft picks to continue their re-building but no deal was done. Another TE being shopped around was Cleveland’s Kellen Winslow but again there were no takers. Dallas however stuck a deal with Detroit sending a 1st, 3rd and 6th round pick to acquire (recently cut by Johnny) disgruntled wideout Roy Williams.
BUMS on Seats.
Those not going to/working on the Chargers @ Saints at Wembley on Sunday are invited to HQ to see that game followed by The Steelers hosting The Giants. There is no Sunday Night game due to the World Series so we won’t be meeting on Monday.
